Snickerdoodles

Ingredients:
1 cup soft shortening (part butter)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 2/3 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
 
Instructions:
Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Sift dry ingredients and stir into first mixture. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Place 2 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned, but still soft. (They puff up at first, then flatten out). Cool.
