Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Add to mixture and mix. Stir in nuts. Chill dough until easy to handle.
Shape dough into balls the size of walnuts. Dip tops in granulated sugar.
Arrange 2' apart on lightly greased baking sheets. Sprinkle several drops of water on each cookie.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, or until lightly brown. Cool on racks. |
