Ingredients: |
3/4 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup light molasses 2 tsp. soda 1/2 tsp. salt | 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ginger 1/4 tsp. cloves 2 cups flour 1 tsp. vanilla |

Instructions: |
Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Blend until dough forms. Divide into 6 parts. Shape into 12 inch rolls. Place at least three inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Brush tops with water; sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; cut diagonally into 1 inch bars. |
