Basic Master Baking Mix

  Yield/Servings: 13 cups  
Ingredients:
8 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup double-acting baking powder
2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
21 tbs. salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups lard or shortening that doesn't require refrigeration
 
 
Instructions:
Add flour, baking powder, milk, salt, and sugar to a large bowl. Mix together thoroughly. Cut in shortening until mix is consistency of corn meal. Store in covered containers at room temperature. To measure the mix, pile it lightly into cup and level off evenly. Makes 13 cups of mix. Use within one month.

If mice or bugs are a problem, put these products in cans, jars or rigid plastic containers with tight lids. If they are stored in proper containers and kept dry, they keep indefinitely.
