Beat together white sugar, powdered sugar, butter, oil, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Add these to first ingredients. Once all combined, shape into balls size of walnuts.
Dip into sugar and flatten with a fork or a small glass or drip by spoonfuls on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes.
Variations: Divide dough into 3 or more parts before making into balls. Add one of these:
1) walnuts, pecans or other cut nuts 2) chocolate chips 3) dates or raisins 4) use cookie decorations or colored sugar. |
