Brown Sugar Cookies

Yield/Servings: 70 cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup finely ground nuts

Instructions:
Cream together sugars and shortening. Add egg and vanilla. Sift flour and add soda, salt and nuts. Add to sugar mixture. Chill 20 minutes. Form into balls the size of a quarter. Roll in granulated sugar. Press flat on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake.

Can be iced with the following mixture:

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cream

Boil 4 minutes. Add 1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar.
