Turkish Pilau

Ingredients:
1 tbsp. dripping
1 small onion, minced
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup rice
1 cup cold water
1 cup strained tomatoes
Toast triangles
2 cups cooked meat, cut in small cubes
 
Instructions:

Melt dripping, brown onion slightly, add meat and seasonings and cook slowly about 10 minutes.

Cover rice with cold water, bring to boiling point and boil 5 minutes, drain and blanch.

Add rice, water and tomatoes to meat, simmer gently until rice is tender. Serve on toast triangles.
