4 large onions, sliced thin 2 tbsp. butter 6 cups chicken broth Salt and pepper Buttered rusk Grated cheese | |
Instructions: Brown onion in butter. Stir in chicken broth (use canned if necessary). Add seasonings and heat well. Pour individual portions into heat-proof bowls over a slice of buttered rusk. Sprinkle with grated cheese, and set in hot oven until cheese melts. Serve very hot. | |
