6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup seedless raisins 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg | 2 pkgs. fast-rising yeast 1 cup plain yogurt 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup butter 1 egg, at room temperature Confectioners' sugar icing |
Instructions: Set aside 1 cup flour. In large bowl, mix remaining flour, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and yeast. In saucepan, heat yogurt, water and butter to 125 degree; stir into dry ingredients. Mix in egg. Stir in only enough reserved flour to make soft dough. Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover; let rest 10 minutes. | |
