Lois's Pizza Dough

Ingredients:
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110 degree)
3/4 cup hot milk
1/4 cup shortening or oil
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/3 tsp. salt
1 egg
4 cups flour
 
Instructions:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add milk, sugar and salt in separate bowl. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in egg and yeast. Add 2 cups flour and beat until smooth. Gradually stir in more flour until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead until dough is smooth and elastic. Preheat oven on broil for 5 minutes. Then set to 525 degree.

Comments: Precooking the crust assures that toppings will not prevent the dough from being thoroughly cooked when you pile on mounds of pizza toppings.
