3 cups graham cracker crumbs (1 lb.) 1 tbs. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 cup shortening 3 eggs, separated 1 1/2 cups milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups sugar | |

Instructions: |
Heat oven to 350 degree. Grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans or three 8 inch cake pans. Crumb graham crackers and empty into measuring cup. Repeat you have 3 cups of crumbs. Empty into a large mixing bowl. Add baking powder and salt. Put shortening, egg yolks, milk, vanilla and sugar into blender and mix until smooth. Add to cracker crumbs and mix well by hand or rotary beater. Beat egg whites with a rotary beater until stiff. Fold into cracker mixture. Pour into prepared pans and bake 30 to 35 minutes. |
