When a cake sticks to the bottom of the pan, wring a cloth out of hot water and place over bottom of inverted pan until cake loosens.
To prevent a cake from sticking to a plate, dust with confectioners' sugar before placing the cake on the plate.
If a recipe calls for greasing and flouring of cake pans, use about 1/2 teaspoon of fat and 1 tablespoon of flour per pan. Do not grease sides of pan.
Cool cake and remove any crumbs before spreading with frosting. `For quick cake decoration, place paper doily or strips of paper on cooled, baked cake. Dust with confectioners' sugar and remove doily or paper strips.
Prepared pudding mixes make good cake fillings.
